The Altruists Corporation is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization created in April 2009. The founders are graduates of the New York City public high school system. They appreciated their unique and influential experiences and wanted to give back by assisting future generations of graduates with the help of interested parties. The organization attracts, administers and distributes financial contributions to New York City high school seniors pursuing a college education.
Currently, Altruists grant annual scholarships to high school seniors who have established financial need, demonstrated academic achievement based on various grading scales and course rigor in addition to community involvement and extracurricular activities. Furthermore, supplemental programs benefiting students that strategically correspond with the intent of the founders will gradually be implemented.
Financial contributions are raised from fellow New York City high school graduates in addition to individual and corporate donors. All donations are given directly to award recipients.
